6. Mandalas -- A MicroGenesis Course
Course 6 — Mandalas
A MicroGenesis Course
Learn to build beautiful, meditative mandalas using simple tools, concentric structure, and your own intuitive pattern vocabulary.
This course guides you through the complete process of creating mandalas from the inside out. You’ll learn how to draw concentric rings, develop pattern language, build symmetry without perfectionism, and use ink confidently from the very first mark.
Through five short modules, you’ll explore:
• Tools & Setup
How to choose the right pens (Micron or Copic Multiliner), paper size, circle templates or compass, and optional tools like protractors or inking templates.
• Concentric Ring Building
The core structure of every mandala — varying ring widths, maintaining natural rhythm, and spacing that creates movement and visual balance.
• Pattern Development in Ink
Why you draw only the circles in pencil — and everything else in ink.
You’ll practice petals, arcs, spikes, repeats, and micro-motifs using scrap paper or a sketchbook before committing to your mandala.
• Layering, Overlapping & Depth
How to show petals sitting behind others, how to create depth with line weight, and how to let your mandala evolve one ring at a time.
• Final Composition & Refinement
Strategies for completing your mandala, adding closing details, and recognizing the natural “end point” of the piece.
